There are about 55 different varieties of lemongrass, which belong to the same family. Lemongrass has its origins in Southeast Asia, Sri Lanka, India and Australia. It is mainly used as a spice in Asian cuisine in cut or ground form. However, the fresh stem of lemongrass has an extraordinary lemon aroma, with notes of roses, much appreciated for its freshness. Fresh or dried leaves are also used in tea blends for a thirst-quenching effect.
